TDA Applicator Recertification card system information frequently asked questions

This procedure is being implemented for your convenience, but you can still type the information into TDA’s Excel form without using the scanning system.  This is not the only way to process your rosters.

1.    Please advise if these items will need to be tagged for inventory.

answer:    No, none of the items require an inventory tag.

2.    Do we scan the bar codes in the instruction booklet just one time or every time we use the scanner at an event?

answer:    You won’t need to scan it more than once.  The scanning codes are just to “program” the scanner and once it is done the scanner will retain the settings.

3.    If we have someone with a Private Applicator license and a Certified Private Applicator license do we make them one card for each?

answer:    If an applicator has both a Certificate and a License, you should make them a card with the Private Applicator license number.

4.    If we have someone with a Private Applicator license and a Non-Commercial or Commercial license do we make them one card for each?

answer:    If an applicator has both a Certificate and a License, you do not NEED to make a card for each, as the CEUs are transferable from one to the other.  We recommend creating the card with the Commercial or Non-Commercial number as they require more CEUs and would better accommodate the higher number of CEUs needed.

5.    Do we need to put the zero/s in front of the license number when adding to the I. D. Card?

answer:    No, do not include the zero.  The license number is the string of six digits after the zero.

6.    Can you tell me how I can get the list for the private pesticide applicators for a given county?  We want to print the cards ahead of time so they will be ready when they come to the program.

answer:    The TDA Applicator License Database Search has the licensed applicators listed by county as one of the fields.  You can sort it alphabetically and get everyone licensed in your county.  The database search can be found on our TDA Applicator Recertification card system information page under the “TDA Applicator License Database Search” link.

7.    If you are creating multiple cards what do I need to do to make the template go to the next page?

answer:    The template is only set up to print 1 page of cards at a time, and it prints 3 cards to that one page.

8.    Where can I purchase more of the laminated cards?

answer:  The Extension Associate Directors have provided funding for the Agricultural & Environmental Safety Unit (AES) to purchase and distribute the Avery bar coding scanner cards via our website and the Riverside Warehouse for your use in facilitating applicator recertification activities in your respective counties.

You or your office staff can order 3 packages (90 cards) per request by contacting our office at 979-845-3849.   The cards will be distributed to you free of charge, except shipping as appropriate (when an order exceeds weight restrictions or funding for CEA shipping and handling are depleted). Please share this information with your office personnel to help facilitate your applicator recertification training and programming needs.
